Many Rusyn settled in the Tremont area to be near the jobs in the steel mills which were within walking distance. The area is no longer populated by Rusyns but many of the landmarks associated with that earlier time remain.
As you can see from the schedule of events below the day began at 9:30 AM with a tour on Lolly the Trolley, if participants so desired. I hope you had a chance to take advantage of this because Lolly the Trolley is no longer in Cleveland.
At 2:00 a walking tour of Tremont (with a guide) began. The tour included sites of two famous locations - Lemko Hall and St. Theodosius Orthodox Cathedral. Both were featured in the movie "The Deer Hunter".
An added bonus - a tour of Eikona Studios gave visitors information about writing icons with a first-hand viewing of works in progress.

Father Hanulya was a priest at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Tremont. His passion to preserve the cultural legacy of the Rusin people inspired the creation of the Rusin Elite Society (later renamed the Rusin Educational Society), the first caretakers of our garden. The Rusin Garden Association was created to be the organization responsible for the garden.
Father Richard Plishka along with Darrel and Lisa Vani Wright, of Silver Frog Studios, created the Rusin Garden in the Emil Mihlaik Byzantine Catholic Center.
